Depression and the Christian

Pastor Tony completes our series on LIFE Basics by taking a serious look at depression, specifically with how depression can and does effect Christians. Using Psalm 88 as our guide and referencing Charles Spurgeon's The Treasury of David, Pastor Tony shows a Biblical guide to experiencing and expressing depression.

This is an excellent resource not only for those who suffer with depression, but also for those who know, love, live with, work with, or counsel those who suffer with depression.

Guilt and Forgiveness

Pastor Tony continues our series on LIFE Basics by getting to the very root of the Gospel (Matthew 11:27-30) and our conscience (Romans 2:14-15). He then takes us deep into Hebrews 9:1-14; 10:14,19-22 so that we can learn to trust the Gospel and not our conscience.

LIFE at LaGrange Baptist

video

This 8 minute video is a brief introduction to what we call LIFE at LaGrange Baptist Church. Hear from Pastor Doug Wolter and some of our LIFE teachers as they share a glimpse of how they live the LIFE both inside and outside the class.

Sunday, October 7th, we will have our first LIFE Basics training and we will look at the word Evangelism. During our time together we will learn how to share the gospel using a tract called "Two Ways To Live." At this training we will also discuss different ways that each of us can promote the gospel in Oldham County (and beyond). Next week you can sign up for this training in the foyer or online. If you would like more information check with your LIFE class teacher.

How Do I Know I Am A Christian?

Pastor Tony resumes our series on Life Basics with helping us to understand, based on Romans 3:21-25 and 2 Peter 1:5-11, that it is not important if we can remember the point in time we committed our lives to Christ - what date/time, what prayer was said, what isle was walked, or what committment card was filled out. Our faith does not rest on any of these experiences of salvation. Our faith rests 2000 years ago on the work of God of Christ on the cross. We cannot look to anything that we have done to know our salvation - we must look outside of ourselves to Christ and His perfect work completed on the cross. Only then can we rest in His Grace and Grow in Christ.

LIFE Basics

For the past year you have heard the word LIFE used to describe training for our Sunday School teachers. We have also adopted the word LIFE as the name of Bible Study Hour (formerly known as Sunday School). LIFE stands for Love, Instruction, Fellowship, and Evangelism. Our teachers have been looking at these areas as they have been leading your class. We will continue LIFE Training with our teachers this year and we want to expand that training to the entire church body through LIFE Basics.

You can sign up for this training in the foyer or online. The Devil and his deeds

The latest in our series on Life Basics, Pastor Tony walks us through 1 Peter 5:6-9 for a biblical view on Satan, who he is, the names he is known by, and how we are to live our lives - not in fear, but humbly dressed in the armor of God, standing firm in our faith and the knowledge that we cannot hope to defeat Satan on our own - but Jesus can (and already has!)!

Journey Into Glory

Dr. Eric Johnson will be teaching a class called "Journey Into Glory" on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM beginning September 19th. The aim of the class is to help understand and make progress in your journey as a Christian from here to glory, offering biblical wisdom in realistic spiritual growth. We all face obstacles along this path and at times we need help. The outcome will be to know how to grow your own soul to a strong and healthy state and how to help others along this sometimes difficult path of earthly life.
