LIFE Teacher Training - December 7, 2008

Dear L.I.F.E. Teacher,

Over the years we’ve found that L.I.F.E. Classes (Sunday School) is where church life really happens. That’s where we can be together, grow together, and promote the gospel together. That’s where the basics of discipleship (Love, Instruction, Fellowship, and Evangelism) are lived out. Therefore, we will be emphasizing L.I.F.E. as a main priority this year.

Our next L.I.F.E. Training is December 7th, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. At this training we will look at how we can do life-to-life ministry more effectively. Our desire is to equip and encourage you so you can equip and encourage others to promote the gospel in our church and community.
You have been given an important role and responsibility in our church. And we want you to know how much we appreciate you for your commitment to teach and serve this body at LaGrange.

To show our appreciation for you, we want to give you a special Christmas gift at our Dec. 7th Training along with a nice dinner and fellowship. In addition, we would like to take your picture at this training to use for promotion both in our bulletin (upcoming) as well as our website. So please dress accordingly.

Giving thanks to God for a great year of LIFE!

On June 1st, from 5:30 - 7:30, we'd like to come together and celebrate what God has done through our LIFE classes this year. We want to pause and say "thank you" to God for our teachers. In addition, we want to encourage you with practical ways to share your life with others this summer. That's the heartbeat of this last LIFE meeting before the summer. We're calling it LIFE Together since we're inviting everyone in the church to this event. It will be a fun night together with Q-Doba's catering the food.

Come join us January 13th at 5:30 PM as we study LIFE through the basics of FELLOWSHIP. As Christians we need to Promote the Gospel through our LIFE...and Fellowship is a big part of that. While not as tongue-in-cheek as the Evangelism Linebacker or 8 Reasons I Don't Share My Faith videos, this video shows some insight in what to do and what not to do when talking with others about what it means to have a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.

New Online Resource Materials

We are excited to announce the addition of several new daily devotional materials to our website. First, there's a daily Bible verse on our home page. Second there are 3 different daily devotional resources found under the new RESOURCES menu in the menu bar on virtually every page of our website and blog. The devotionals include the Daily Light on the Daily Path, a Read the Bible in 1 Year program, and a Chronilogical Bible reading program. Lastly, we have also added a search feature to search the Bible by passage or topic/keyword. This search feature is available both from the new RESOURCES menu and from the SEARCH menu.

LIFE at LaGrange Baptist

This 8 minute video is a brief introduction to what we call LIFE at LaGrange Baptist Church. Hear from Pastor Doug Wolter and some of our LIFE teachers as they share a glimpse of how they live the LIFE both inside and outside the class.

During our time together we will learn how to share the gospel using a tract called "Two Ways To Live." At this training we will also discuss different ways that each of us can promote the gospel in Oldham County (and beyond). Next week you can sign up for this training in the foyer or online. LIFE Basics

For the past year you have heard the word LIFE used to describe training for our Sunday School teachers. We have also adopted the word LIFE as the name of Bible Study Hour (formerly known as Sunday School). LIFE stands for Love, Instruction, Fellowship, and Evangelism. Our teachers have been looking at these areas as they have been leading your class. We will continue LIFE Training with our teachers this year and we want to expand that training to the entire church body through LIFE Basics.

We are excited to continue this year's LIFE Training as we hear from Don Mathis on the topic of Evangelism. All Sunday School teachers (preschool - adult) are encouraged to come for a special time of fellowship and dinner together. L.I.F.E. is a year long (in four - two hour sessions) training program for Sunday School teachers to learn what it means to embrace L.I.F.E. and live out L.I.F.E together.

This year’s LIFE Training will be a continuation of what we have learned last year. We will continue to have these trainings be a way of growing us all in unity and maturity in Christ as we seek to lead and shepherd those under our care. LIFE Basics, which will come on the heels of these trainings (the following month), seeks to give an opportunity for the rest of the congregation to come and be exposed to our vision of LIFE and how we can practically be disciples of Christ.

The 2007 - 2008 schedule will be in reverse order with church wide LIFE Basics events interspersed throughout the schedule:

New Search Feature Added to Menus

We have added a new search feature to our menu system. This allows you to search for specific things across our website and blog. You can even choose to search across the entire internet. Whatever you search for will open in a new window (or tab if you use tabbed browsing).


We have standardized on using Google for this search feature. There may be a few days delay between when something is posted on our site or blog and when Google's search technology finds it. So if you are searching for something and can not find it, please try again in a few days to give these massive search engines time to refresh themselves.

LBC Goes To The Bats!

LaGrange Baptist Church invites you to a church wide event at Louisville's Slugger Field to watch the Louisville Bats play Indy. Game time is 7:05PM. There will be post-game fireworks and the ZOOperstars ("Zany & hysterical characters that entertain the crowd with their dance routines and crazy skits. Fun for the whole family!").
