As parents we have the responsibility of passing on our faith to the next generation. But sometimes we forget that this can be fun—especially during the Christmas season. My personal hope during this time of the year is to intentionally pass on to my own children the love of Christ in creative ways. Children love traditions because they love repetition. They look forward to fun and familiar times with the family. As parents we can take advantage of these times and point our kids to Christ. Many of you already have your own family traditions but here a few more to help you celebrate the Savior during this Christmas season.
* Advent Calendars – A fun way for your family to count down the days in anticipation of Christ’s coming. Be sure to choose a calendar that centers on the birth of Jesus
* Christmas Cookies – Let children make or help make cookies that they themselves deliver to teachers, neighborhood friends, special babysitters, people in need, etc.
* Scripture Memory – Memorize a passage of Scripture together like Luke 2:10-11 or Isa. 9:6 and talk about it together praising Jesus for who He is
*Â Re-enact the Christmas story – Have fun acting out the story (Luke 2) as a family
* Make Ornaments – Get creative and make ornaments that reflect who Jesus is (i.e. Bread of Life, Lion of Judah, Lamb of God, King of Kings, Light of the World, etc.)
Celebrating the Savior with you,
