About LaGrange Baptist

Worship. Life. Mission.
LaGrange Baptist Church was founded in 1802 as Lick Branch Baptist Church by Pastor William Kellar and 22 members. The first church building was a log house “raised” by the members. In 1825, the church began meeting in a schoolhouse on a farm southwest of LaGrange. In 1826, the church built a new building on land offered by William Taylor, the founder of LaGrange. At this point the name of the church changed to the “Baptist Church of LaGrange.” Mrs. Bettie Russell DeHaven presented a new building to the church as a gift in 1895; at that point the church became known as DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church. Most recently, in 2005, the church moved into the current building and the church retained the historic name from 1826, LaGrange Baptist Church. Throughout the generations, our aim has always been to serve our community and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Learn more about our leadership and beliefs below.

Our Mission

At LaGrange Baptist Church our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the good of all people. In the Bible, a disciple of Jesus Christ is one who is growing in three relationships: Worship (relationship with God), LIFE (relationship with other Christians), and Mission (relationship with the world).

Biblical Support

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah  [2] that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.  [3] Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!
