LaGrange Baptist Family,
Life looks very
different than it did a week ago. We find ourselves in circumstances that can stir
up confusion and anxiety, and it is in times like these that we must remember
the importance of our church family. We grieve the fact that we cannot be
together in person, but we know by faith that we are going to get through this.
The information and guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak continue to
change, but the call of God on our lives and the mission of our church have stayed
the same.
We don’t know how
long we will be unable to meet together in our building, but in the meantime we
want to strive to capitalize on this unique time. All the cancellations and closures
give us an opportunity to step away from busyness and distractions and reflect
on what it means to love God, love each other, and love our neighbor. Here are
a few practical steps on what that will look like for our church:
– Sundays. We
will not be meeting at our building for corporate worship through the
foreseeable future. Your pastors will be recording a condensed worship service
each week and making that accessible for you to use at home. Look for a
follow-up e-mail about this by the end of the week.
– Wednesdays.
All Wednesday night activities are canceled for now.
– Giving. While
our church building may sit empty, there are still many expenses we have to
take care. We ask that you continue to give even though we aren’t meeting together.
You can still give by dropping it off at the church office, mailing it in, or
setting up an online payment through your bank.
– Opportunities
to Serve. Let’s all be on the lookout for ways to serve those around us. This
crisis will affect different people in different ways: some need help with
finances, others with childcare, others with groceries, and many other needs on
top of that. Who and how can you help? How can we as a church show the love of
Christ in this season of life?
We will continue to pray
for you during this time while we are apart. If you or someone you know needs
help or prayer, please do not hesitate to contact one of the pastors or call
the church office, 222-9306.

(3/13/2020)
LaGrange Baptist Family,
We sent out a notice
Thursday afternoon notifying you of our plans to still gather for worship on
Sunday morning, but we are writing to you now to inform you that we have
ultimately decided to cancel our services for Sunday, March 15th.
Most of us have
never been through something like this pandemic, and the circumstances and
information surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak are changing at a fast rate. In a
situation like this we can never know for certain what the right decision is. Based
on the best information we currently have along with a partnership with other
sister churches in our community, a desire to love our neighbor, and a respect for
the civil authorities God has put in place, we think the best decision is not
to gather this Sunday for corporate worship.
Please know that
this is not a decision that we take lightly, and it’s not the decision that we wanted
to make. There are few things we look forward to more than gathering together
as a church for worship every Sunday. Our souls need this weekly anchor point.
Our souls need each other. But we do not want to view this need without
considering the needs and risks of others within our church and our community.
We will not be
streaming our services online this weekend, but we encourage you to take time
on Sunday morning to pray for yourself, our church, our community, our government
leaders, medical professionals, and those who are sick.
Also, following the
closure of Oldham County Schools, children and student ministry activities
along with Pastor Rick’s 1 Corinthians Bible Study will be suspended until
Wednesday, April 8th. Any other Wednesday night activities will be
determined by the discretion of the leader.
Your pastors will be
praying for you during this time while we are apart. If you or someone you know
needs help or prayer, please do not hesitate to contact one of the pastors or
call the church office, 222-9306. At this time, the church office will still be
open 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
