Why should we do a Pastor’s Conference?

Promoting the Gospel Pastor’s Conference: October 26-28, 2009

Why should we at LaGrange Baptist Church do a Pastor’s Conference?

  • God has given us a unique gift among churches through teaching us how to apply the grace of the gospel to the realities of the human soul.
  • This knowledge has come to our church (both members and pastors) not through some special ability we have, but through the school of experience whose colors are black and blue.  We have become rich in grace because we have been in great need.
  • The demands of leading people through life’s hard knocks can sometimes blind a pastor to the needs of his own soul, and of his own family.
  • Some pastors are so drained by their ministries they are ready to give up.  We can care for their weary souls and send them back to their families and churches with new life.
  • Every pastor we help means there will soon be a family and an entire church full of people who are helped.
  • Yes, there are many national conferences for pastors, but few of them offer personal help for the pastor’s soul.  I do believe we are uniquely gifted to provide genuine help for such weary shepherds.  We are also able to do it in an affordable venue for pastors who do not have the finances to secure this type of help, or attend a national conference.
  • Consider these statistics:
    • 25% have been forced out of or fired from their ministry at least once.
    • 90% feel inadequately trained to cope with ministry demands.
    • 80% believe that pastoral ministry affects their families.
    • 45% say they’ve experienced depression or burnout to the extent that they needed to take a leave of absence.
    • 40% have serious conflict with a church member at least once a month.
    • 37% admit that Internet pornography is a current struggle.
    • 70% do not have someone they consider a close friend.

Would you like to help encourage our visiting pastors?  There are multiple opportunities to serve before, during, and after the conference.  Please contact the church office if you are willing to join us in serving these pastors.
